Troncones, Mexico -Day eight (saturday)
What a day! We got up relatively on time and not too hung over. Alejandro arrived around nine and we were still eating. We finally got everyone into is truck around nine-thirty. We drove a few miles north to the turn off for the ranch and took a left at the y a few miles into the jungle. it led us to a small cow farm/abandoned palm plantaion with a river running next to it. the kayaks were stored there and we carried them down to the river. we paddled up stream about half a mile and pulled into an area where a path had been cleared. It led us to a clearing with many indigenous trees. Alejandro told us all kinds of interesting things about symbiotic relationships in the forest and defense mechanisms of specific plants. then we floated down to a bay. Once there, we drank some water Alejandro had brought us and picked up seven or eight bags of debris from the river that had deposited on the shore. A fun kayak adventure and helping out the local beauty! How cool! Alejandro turns out to be a really cools guy and a great guide. He is very knowledgeable and has studied marine science. His dream is to have a farm that is eco-friendly which he will manage and give tours of. I am Jealous of that plan.
We paddle back upstream and back to the truck. Alejandro takes us to "the ranch" surf spot where we drink $1 beers (I think we drank almost all their beers!) and eat delicious ($3) fried quesodillas. How cool/fun! Alejandro's dog got into a fight when we first got there abd the owner of the other dog was rude, but alejandro cooled him off and Max was allowed to come out and chill with us after a while. Mark very dilligently pushed an oyster sack back into the ocean a few times. We peed in the ocean, as there were no facilitites there. Funny watching everyone (myself included) sitting in the ocean as the waves came up. It was too shallow to pee standing up. We invited Alejandro to dinner (Nicole had alterior motives for him :-) and then headed home in his truck.
We got back, napped, drank and then Ryan, T-bird and I headed north on the street. Everyone else (including poor Mark as the only dude) went shopping in the tiendas for clothes and food. Somehow one of them spent $100 in this tiny town in half an hour...
We saw lots of cool houses and (luckily) met up with Alejandro again (He was returning from Ixtapa). He drove us up past manzanillo bay to La Marea. It is an awesome (!) luxury villa in the northern part of troncones owned by a couple in San Diego. Wow. Endless pool with a swing, beautiful common area. -even nicer than the $250k condos we had checked out the day before.
We walked back on the beach (for what seemed like a million miles) and were impressed with casa gregorio and pelicano something or other.
When we got back, Maria was getting ready to serve chile rellenos and more of her awesome guacamole. Yum! Alejandro got there just in time after helping some guests get settled at La Marea. We ate a wonderful dinner and then drank/pool/ocean swim/drank. Alejandro suprised us all with an offer to take us to a secret hot springs. We were floored! What a generous offer. we, of course, accepted and piled into his truck. We were in for a treat. we drove north twenty minutes or so and headed off into the jungle. Those in back stood up and got quite a ride. It was so much fun, we had to trade with those in front on the way back. we arrived at a small clearing. alejandro led us across a couple of streams to a place where some sand bags crossed the flow of a natural hot springs. What an amazing place! We would never have gone there by ourselves. The fireflys were out and it was magical... Good friends, great spot, full stomach, a few beers, some smoke. It was a moment I will always remember with a smile.
We returned home and swam a little more then off to bed sometime in the morning. What a great day! I love Troncones! Thanks you Alejandro! I will be recommending Costa Nativa Eco-tours to everyone!
